Suspension
Suspension, performance and replacement: Cobra springs, Bilstein shock absorbers and StrongFlex and Powerflex polyurethane bushes. Almost 28,000 references, the deepest section in the shop.
The three parts work as a set, so choosing one narrows your options on the other two.

What each part does
- Springs — carry the weight of the car and set ride height and rate. Changing these is what lowers the body.
- Shock absorbers — they do not carry: they control the spring's movement. As they lose hydraulic capability the tyre stops following the road and braking distances lengthen.
- Suspension bushes — the sleeves tying the arms to the chassis. The standard rubber perishes and gives way; polyurethane holds the geometry under load.
The rule that avoids most mistakes
All three have to be matched to each other. A firm damper with a very soft standard spring, or the reverse, gives a worse result than leaving everything original. If you are lowering the car, spring and damper should be a set designed to work together.
And whatever you change: replace by complete axles, never a single corner, and align afterwards. Any work on the mounting points moves the geometry.
The order to inspect in
On a high-mileage car the bushes are usually the most degraded part and the one that costs you most in steering precision, even though it is the least obvious. Dampers are worth checking from around 50,000 miles. Springs are rarely changed through wear — they are changed for ride height or rate.
