How to choose alloy wheels for your car
A wheel either fits or it does not, and four measurements have to line up. The wrong size affects steering, tyre wear and type approval.
- Diameter, in inches — 17, 18, 19. It determines the tyre profile you can run.
- Width, also in inches. With the diameter it sets the tyre's contact patch.
- PCD, the bolt pattern: 5x112 means five bolts on a 112 mm circle. The figure buyers get wrong most often.
- ET, the offset — how far the mounting face sits from the wheel's centre line. The wrong ET pulls the wheel into the arch or pushes it outside the bodywork.
A fifth matters too: the centre bore. If it exceeds your car's hub, you need centring rings.

- Japan Racing — the widest range, close to 9,500 references, and competitive value for the size.
- OZ — over 5,800 references from the Italian maker with the deepest competition record.
- Ronal — European maker with a strong original-equipment presence, for factory-size replacements.
- CMS — original-equipment supplier, understated finishes.
Alloy wheels by size and bolt pattern
By pattern, the best represented is 5x112 with almost 3,000 references, then 5x114, 5x120, 5x108, 5x130, 5x100 and 4x100. By diameter the bulk sits in 17, 18, 19 and 20 inch — over 7,700 references — with 15 and 16 inch for superminis and 21 and 22 for SUVs.

How do I find out my car's PCD?
The bolt pattern is in the vehicle documentation. With five bolts the measurement is not direct, so the technical data sheet is the reliable route.
Which alloy wheels will fit my car?
Any matching on bolt pattern and centre bore, with a diameter, width and ET approved for your model. Filtering by PCD and inches narrows the catalogue to what is compatible.
Can I fit a different diameter to the original?
Yes, if wheel and tyre keep an equivalent rolling diameter and the combination is approved. Changing inches without adjusting the profile throws out the speedometer.
What if the ET is not an exact match?
A small difference can be corrected with spacers. Large differences change the geometry and should not be compensated that way.
